Brands Have Fun During National Donut Day

If you haven’t heard, today is one of┬áthe most notable holidays for celebrating fried dough. Today was National Donut Day and there was no shortage of coverage in the news and social media. During holidays such as these it is always great to get an idea of how different brands respond or contribute to the social conversation.

We’re counting some of the most favorited National Donut Day posts on twitter today:

Brand: Thought Catalog

Thought Catalog is an online platform for content and its writers. Its belief (albeit sometimes controversial) is that all thoughts are relevant. It was interesting to see the platforms presence on Twitter beat out other platforms like Buzzfeed and Elite Daily. This article captures our country’s love for donuts in a refreshing and pretty funny way!

Our take? The love for a donut is perfect until the donut is gone…

National Donut Day

Brand: Sony

How can a tech company┬ápromoting a cell phone bump out popular choices like Apple and Samsung? By participating in National Donut Day. This lighthearted but admittedly very “focused” ad could be addressing some potential issues with their rocky launch of the XperiaX. We have to give them credit though, the best way to turn a bad conversation into a good one, is with a donut.

Our take? Dear Apple, where were you today?

Brand: Urban Decay

What could a makeup company have anything to do with Donuts? The answer is everything. Aside from Dunkin Donuts, Urban Decay could have been the best brand to incorporate company colors and styles to their donut themed post. Rich, decadent donuts and colors is all we can see. Their copy didn’t sell a single product they sold an idea – we couldn’t have done it better ourselves.

Our take? Can someone get us one of those donuts?

Brand: Google

What kind of post you do create when you own most of the internet and kind of rule the online world? This is pretty much it. There is so much variety and yet it is completely effortless. Kind of like Google right? Their post definitely embodied what we imagine Google culture to be like – fun, different, and kind of random.

Our take? Google did National Donut Day right.
